The New Year’s holiday brings a lot of conflicting emotions. Reflection on love gained and lost, friends and family, growing older, watching change both good and bad. Wolf attempts to capture this emotion in such a reflective manner on “Brand New Old Lang Syne”, with a simple melody and chord progression, evoking days past–imagine yourself in a pub or tavern, or listening room toward midnight, toasting the passing of the year, of time. Wolf wrote the song on New Year’s Day, at roughly 4:30 in the morning. So much keeps our mind going, and part of that staying up was the disbelief that the calendar was marching forward relentlessly. The song was recorded with Steve Goodie in Nashville.  It is available as a special CD single from CDBaby as well as on iTunes.
